About the Maltipoo Breed

Maltipoos are known to be friendly, intelligent and adorable. This is why they have been so quickly finding their way into many pet parents hearts. They do well in both large and small households, as they love playtime just as much as they love cuddling time on your lap! It doesn’t take long to see why people have been adopting them with such enthusiasm.

Maltipoos are a fairly new breed of designer dog, which is between the Maltese and Poodle. With their small stature, round head and floppy ears, these dogs look like puppies for nearly their entire life span. Since they have one parent that is smaller than the other (Maltese), there can be variance in size with this hybrid dog- it will depend on what the height of its poodle parent was. The average height for these dogs range from 8 to 14 inches tall; Their average weight ranges from 5 to 20 pounds depending on how big or small its parents size.

Maltipoos are getting popular because they are often classified as “hypoallergenic,” meaning there is a reduced possibility for an allergic reaction to happen. Though not all breeds of dog can be considered hypoallergenic, Maltipoos come very close. With less dander that regular poodles, these dogs could make the perfect choice for someone with allergies to pet hair.
